Fridge Poetry 3 - Holden Caulfield

You know,

life is like… like… like algebra,

and that’s like… sad,

‘cause no on can get it anyhow.

All you can do is keep forgetting how difficult it is.

But I’m just a man,

not his lordship or something.

I don’t know a decimal from a dog.

Who cares about an algorithm or about this or that.

If I was smarter, I would be drinking doubles and getting

better at bowling.

It’s fair if you don’t believe me,

I ain’t much,

but I ain’t nothing.

Still,

if work was why you and I love,

I”m seeing the reason to go away

and love,

feel,

call someone baby,

live fully

and have family by my bedside when I’m erased.

I’ll almost understand sometime,

perchance between beers,

but only after going through the river to remember

no one understands after ado.

I’ve come from away,

having the sound of home

has always been delightful,

a gift that could never ebb.
